As many of you may or may not know, on the 14th of August 2016 we will start our “Grand trip” - quit our jobs, sell all of our belongings and go bikepacking from Hungary to Linh’s hometown in Vietnam. The approximated route is 20.000 kilometres long through 11 countries and territories from Europe to Asia within 318 days.
This continent-crossing bikepacking tour through the tea lands has been our common dream for years and now it’s time to make it come true.
The preparation for our big trip includes small training trips to strengthen our muscles, endurance and our mind as well. In the last 2.5 days, we had our very first trip from Győr to Bratislava - conquering 174.67 kilometres. This trip brought a mixed feeling to us as well as encourage us to be on the road again as soon as possible.

We sent dozens of requests on Couchsurfing in order to have our first surfing experience as a married couple, only one family accepted us - the best one. We arrived at Pavol and Katarina’s house when it was almost dark, and our energy was at low level while the tiredness reached the record. Welcomed us with nice smiles and a short tour around their wonderful palace, the young couple proved that sometimes you don’t need coffee to be awake again. :) They are absolute helpful and warm-hearted while giving us their house’s key, sharing their dinner and allowing us to use everything freely in the house. In additions, they gave us a lot of tips for visiting Bratislava as well as the surrounding regions. We are truly thankful for you, Pavol and Katarina! Trust and kindness are two things that surprise you every single time you stay with Couchsurfing. Give it a try!

- A nice corner where we had meals
We didn’t prepare much food for the trip besides some sandwiches, two bottles of water and some fruits just in case we are exhausted on the way. We really want to prove that money is not the prerequisite to travel long and far. Our big coming trip will be the biggest challenge as we will need to overcome the difficulties and obstacles on the way as a team. On the one hand, we should get use to with poorest living conditions. On the other hand, we will happily enjoy the nice view and learn a bunch of new things everyday together. The concept of “life-partner” will be examined in the most objective way. How lovely a travelling life is!

Each person has a different ambition in their lives, and each of them will have more than a reason to postpone doing that. When you get older, when all the obligations and duties in the society tie you down and never let you be free again, there will be more than a moment, you regret having your incomplete dream of youth. Don’t let your dreams die out and miss your freedom and the beautiful sunny days out there. Life is measured by the days you enjoyd it, not those that you have survived.
Let’s hit the road! And maybe we will see you next tea somewhere in the world! :)
