India 03: Indian cycling tales

The heat in Goa became unbearable. The hot waft arrived at about 11 AM from the sea and in the next hours the temperature peaked at 36-38 degrees Celsius with 100% humidity. On one hand, we couldn’t tolerate this during cycling anymore, on the other hand we couldn’t finish the daily distance until 11 AM. Beach or mountains?

India 02: A bringások rendes emberek!

Ahogy az előző bejegyzésben már említettem, Mangalore óta Nyugat-Indiában folyamatosan kedves bringások kezei között voltunk, egészen Mumbaiig. Az egész egy véletlennel kezdődött: egyszer megálltunk egy kis pihenőre az út mentén Mangalore felé, amikor egy autó parkolt le mellénk és a sofőr odajött hozzánk: “Bringások vagytok, ugye? Szükségetek van bármilyen segítségre Mangalore-ban? Elég nagy a kerékpáros közösség a városban, biztos vagyok benne, hogy tudnak segíteni. Bemutatlak titeket nekik.” Bumm! Egyszer csak azon találtam magunkat, hogy Mangalore-ban egy luxuslakás vár ránk egy 23 emeletes épületben. Joel a Mangalore Kerékpáros Klub aktív tagja, és miután megtudta, hogy jövünk, azonnal felajánlotta az egyik lakását az öt közül az épületben. Minden nap másik lakásba költözhettünk volna, de egyszerűbbnek találtuk, ha csak egyben maradunk.

India 02: "All cyclists are kind!"

As mentioned in the previous entry, since Mangalore, we had been in good hands of cool cyclists along Western Indian until Mumbai. All came by chance as we were just taking a break on the road side on the way to Mangalore when a car stopped and the driver came to us. “Cyclists, huh? Do you need any helps in Mangalore? We have a big community of cyclists there. I’m sure they will take care of you! Let me connect you with them.” Boom! We found ourselves arriving in Mangalore with a whole fancy apartment waiting for us in a 23-floored-building. Joel is an active member of Mangalore Bicycle Club and right after getting the announcement from the leader about us, he offered us one of his 5 apartments in the same building. We could choose to move to a new apartment everyday, but we kept it simple by staying at only one flat for 2 nights.

India 02: Tất cả những người đạp xe đều tốt bụng!

Như đã đề cập trong bài viết trước, kể từ khi đến thành phố Mangalore, chúng tôi đã được những người chơi bộ môn đạp xe lo cho chỗ ăn ở, nghỉ ngơi suốt dọc bờ Tây Ấn, cho đến tận thủ đô Mumbai. Câu chuyện bắt đầu hoàn toàn tình cờ khi chúng tôi đang dừng ở vệ đường để nghỉ ngơi thì một chiếc xe bỗng dừng lại ngay phía trước. Người lái xe tiến gần về chúng tôi và hỏi: “Các bạn đi du lịch bằng xe đạp đấy à? Có cần giúp đỡ gì ở Mangalore không? Chúng tôi có một cộng đồng những người đạp xe rất lớn mạnh ở đó. Để tôi giới thiệu các bạn cho họ nhé!”. Thế là vài ngày sau, chúng tôi đến với thành phố này với một tâm thế vô cùng thoải mái vì biết rằng, một căn hộ chung cư tiện nghi ở một toà nhà 23 tầng đang chờ đợi mình đến nghỉ ngơi vài ngày. Anh Joel là một thành viên tích cực của câu lạc bộ này và ngay sau khi nghe hội trưởng thông báo về chuyến viếng thăm của chúng tôi, anh đã ngay lập tức liên hệ để mời chúng tôi về ở một trong 5 căn hộ sang trọng mà mình đứng tên. Chúng tôi được phép mỗi ngày chuyển sang một căn hộ mới để thay đổi không khí, nhưng để cho đơn giản, chúng tôi chỉ chọn nghỉ lại 2 đêm ở 1 chỗ mà thôi.

Sosem gondoltuk volna, hogy ekkorát fog változni a világ röpke 90 perccel azután, hogy elhagytuk Srí Lankát. Most már tényleg Indiában vagyunk! Már sötét volt, amikor elhagytuk a repteret a bringáinkon és elég ideges is voltam emiatt, mert sokat olvastam különböző fórumokon erről a "világ második legnépesebb országáról". Nos, India valóban teljesen más, mint bármelyik másik ország, ahol eddig jártunk. Tehát mit is láttunk az első napokon, amikor 1,3 milliárd ember közt bringáztunk?

We could never imagine how the world can change that much only in 90 minutes after leaving Sri Lanka. We are in India now, seriously! We left the airport in darkness and I was quite nervous to cycle here after reading so much about this second-most-populated country on the travel forums. Well, India is truly different from any places that we’ve visited. So, what did we actually see during our first days cycling among 1.3 billion people?

Chúng tôi không bao giờ có thể mường tượng ra được rằng chỉ 90 phút sau khi rời Sri Lanka, mình lại lạc đến một thế giới đầy khác biệt đến thế. Chúng tôi đã đến Ấn Độ thật rồi! Rời sân bay khi trời bắt đầu sập tối, những thông tin từ các diễn đàn du lịch khiến cho tôi vừa háo hức vừa lo sợ khi cuộc hành trình đã cập bến tiểu châu lục đông dân thứ hai trên thế giới. Quả thật, Ấn Độ không giống với bất kỳ nơi nào chúng tôi đã từng ghé thăm. Vậy chúng tôi đã thấy gì trong những tuần đầu tiên đạp xe ở đất nước 1,3 tỉ dân này?
